Save Oregon from Fiscal Bankruptcy!

The State of Oregon is following the lead of the state of California and is currently on a road that leads to fiscal bankruptcy. There is one primary reason for this and it is not a lack of revenue. To turn this state around, the core problem that must be met head on is the inordinate power of the public employee unions. Either we address this problem and soon or the fiscal future of this state is going to be a bleak one.

My highest priority as governor will be to break the stranglehold the public employee unions have on our state. Beginning with the teachers unions, which are largely to blame for the mediocrity that permeates our public schools system, and the SEIU and AFSCME, which are the other two public sector unions most responsible for the growth and wastefulness of state and local governments, we must begin to take our state back and make schools more about kids and education and not about money and budgets.

I have a plan to accomplish these things, a plan that respects and rewards those public workers who are necessary and dedicated, and yet ends the complete domination their unions currently hold. . Over the next two weeks I will unfold that plan with sufficient specificity to let Republican voters know that I am not only serious about accomplishing it, but have the know how to make it happen. So, please stay tuned.
